Some of the opportunities identified by private sector includes; improved marketing, enhanced financial security, improve customer insights, improve regulatory compliance and increased customer trust.
In a statement, Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce and Industry – the one and only institution who has always been vocal about private sector growth said SIM registration Act will be a tool to provide accurate customer data and identify specific customer segments which can lead to improve marketing strategy leading to more effective campaign so as increased in sales.
The statement adds that the Act will encourage valid customer identities reducing chances of identity theft, fraud and other security threats.
“SIM registration Act can provide businesses with valuable data about their customers' demographics, behavior, and preferences, enabling them to make more informed business decisions and develop products and services that better meet customer needs.
“Adhering to SIM registration requirements can help businesses avoid legal issues and penalties, ensuring that they operate in accordance with the law and maintain a positive reputation.
“By implementing SIM registration processes, businesses can demonstrate a commitment to security and transparency, building trust with their customers and enhancing their brand reputation.
Chairlady of SICCI Board, Ms Namoi Kaluae said “while SIM registration may involve initial challenges and costs for businesses, the benefits in terms of security, compliance, customer insights, targeted marketing, and customer trust can make it a valuable tool for private sector organizations.
“SICCI congratulates TCSI, CBSI and its stakeholders on moving the SIM card registration act launch and is looking forward to working together to implement this nationwide,” she said.
SIM Registration has been launched last week.
Awareness has already rolled out and is expecting to end in two months’ time [June] before actual enforcement of SIM registration is carried out.
According to timeline, SIM registration will be conducted as of June to November this year and that customers are encouraged to visit services providers [Telekom/Bmobile] to register their SIM cards.
