Honiara - The partnership between Royal Solomon Islands Police Force and Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce and Industry has taken a significant step forward following a productive meeting held last week.

Both parties have agreed to an open Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), a departure from previous arrangements that required bi-annual renewals. This new agreement, proposed by Commissioner of Police Mr. Mostyn Mangau, reflects a shared commitment to strengthening the collaboration between RSIPF and SICCI.

The committee responsible for endorsing this new MOU includes Commissioner of Police, Assitant commissioner Mr Simpson Pogeava Chairlady of the SICCI Board, Ms. Namoi Kaluae; Vice Chair, Mr. Daniel Tucker; Board Member Representative, Mr. Oscar Vahimana; and CEO, Mr. James Dolarii. They all expressed optimism about the enhanced partnership.

Chairlady Ms. Namoi Kaluae welcomed the new arrangement, stating, “This is vital for improving our collaboration and supporting the business community more effectively. Thank you, Commissioner, for your invaluable contribution to our partnership.”

Vice Chair Mr. Daniel Tucker added, “This long-term MOU allows us to focus more on implementing crucial priorities rather than repeatedly reviewing our agreements. It is an excellent step for both SICCI and RSIPF.”

In his remarks, Police Commissioner, Mr Mostyn Magau said, the RSIPF recognized the important role that the private sector contributes to the country.

He adds that private sector is the engine room of the country and that more support from state institutions such as the Police is paramount.

“Our Police Force will continue to work closely with SICCI and the private sector to ensure safety and security to business operations within the country,” Mr. Magau said.

Advocacy Officer, Mr. Filliam Iro’ofa acknowledges committee members for making the time to attend the meeting.

The RSIPF and SICCI MOU is purposely to ensure safety and security to business operations in the country.
