September 6^th, Honiara - Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce and Industry [SICCI] has acknowledged Australia’s ongoing support.

In her speech during the opening of Australia Solomon Islands Business Forum recently held in Honiara, Chairlady of SICCI Board, Ms Namoi Kaluae said Australia and SICCI continues to enjoy a fruitful partnership over the past years.

“A good example of this partnership is the grant funding provided by the Australian Government to the Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce since 2017.

“This financial support over the last few years has proved to be vital and effective in enabling the Chamber to fulfill its mandate,” she said.

Ms Namoi adds that Australia and SICCI’s partnership led to the signing of a MOU between SICCI and Australia Pacific Business Council – a MOU that give birth to the Australia Solomon Islands Business Forum.

She said the partnership between the Chamber of Commerce and Australia Pacific Islands Business Council demonstrates co-reliance and partnership in leveraging investment opportunities from both countries.

“Australia and Solomon Islands are long-time friends and partners in a broad spectrum of areas which include infrastructure, private sector development, justice, health, education, agriculture, governance, gender, and security.

“Chambers of Commerce is the collective voice of businesses and plays a key role in harmonizing, advocating and elevating issues of key concern.

“Beyond our mandated role and corporate imperatives, the Solomon Islands Chamber is more than that – we represent an emerging cohort in leadership, forward thinkers and innovation,” Ms. Namoi said.

Australia High Commissioner to Solomon Islands acknowledges SICCI for its role in organizing the 13th Australia Solomon Islands Business Forum.

In his remarks during a dinner hosted at his residence, H.E Rod Hilton said SICCI played a crucial role in mediating the business environment in Solomon Islands and most importantly co-organizing the Australia Solomon Islands Business Forum.

He encourages Australian investors who were part of the forum to look at investment opportunities in Solomon Islands.

H.E Hilton said, he is optimistic that the forum will create new partnership and network and possibly investment collaborations between Australian Investors and Solomon Islands Businesses.
