Chairlady of Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce and Industry Board says businesses in the country must be acknowledged for showing great resilience overcoming many challenges over the past years.

In her speech during the 8th Business Excellence Awards, Ms. Namoi Kaluae says, the 2021 riot and the pandemic have pushed businesses to their limits, however businesses bounced back with firm determination to deliver services.

“The challenges we faced have only strengthened our resolution, and we can see the fruits of our hard work.

“Our community is not just recovering; we’re thriving, and there’s a renewed energy in the air! It’s this very spirit of resilience that reminds us that together, we can overcome obstacles and build a future filled with promise and opportunity,” she says

Ms Namoi says SICCI has hosted several important events displaying SICCI’s capacity and collaboration in an effort to support businesses.

“Mid this year, we had the honour of hosting the Prime Minister's Breakfast, where we co-launched the government's 100-day policy statement. It was an exciting moment as we aligned our goals and intentions for the future!

“Additionally, we partnered with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade for the New Zealand Business Trade event.

“This collaboration not only strengthened SICCI’s ties with New Zealand but also opened up new avenues for business opportunities between our nations.

“We also hosted the Australia Solomon Islands Business Forum, which saw a fantastic turnout with a significant number of delegation visitors coming to our beautiful Solomon Islands,” she says.

Ms Namoi says the events created a vibrant platform for networking and growth, bringing together innovative minds and establishing connections that can lead to lasting partnerships.

She adds that these achievements illustrate not just SICCI’s resilience but ability to seize opportunities and work together for the greater good.

Ms Namoi told those present that the 8th Business Excellence Awards is a catalyst to work together, building a stronger and more supportive business environment that encourages broader participation across the business community in the Solomon Islands.

She highlights that the Business Excellence Award is extended far beyond the custom-made trophies.

“The awards validate golden opportunity for organisations to gain the indefinable competitive advantage.

“All of you here are winners in your own right and space. You are the trailblazers and the backbone of our economy. Let’s reflect, value and celebrate our progress, and, most importantly, keep that momentum rolling and take pride in ourselves for all that we’ve achieved,” Ms Namoi says.
