SICCI Signs Climate and Resilience MoU with Pacific Islands Forum

SICCI partners with the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat on climate change resilience and private sector adaptation.

SICCI has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat (ForumSEC) focused on climate change resilience and the development of private sector capacity to adapt to climate-related challenges.

The partnership recognises the significant impact of climate change on businesses in Solomon Islands, particularly in sectors such as agriculture, fisheries, tourism, and infrastructure. The MoU establishes a framework for cooperation on climate policy advocacy, knowledge sharing, and the development of climate-resilient business practices.

“Climate change is not just an environmental issue — it is a business risk,” said Ben Bilua, CEO of SICCI. “Our businesses, especially SMEs, need support to understand and manage climate risks. This partnership will help us access the tools, knowledge, and financing needed to build resilience.”

Under the MoU, SICCI and ForumSEC will work together on advocacy initiatives, capacity building programs, and the development of resources to help Solomon Islands businesses prepare for and respond to climate impacts.
