SICCI Facilitates Roundtable with Government on the Manufacturing Sector

SICCI facilitated a high-level roundtable between government and the manufacturing sector, addressing standards, taxation, and regulatory compliance.

SICCI facilitated a high-level roundtable discussion between the government and the manufacturing sector in September 2024, focusing on standards, compliance, taxation, quality, health, safety, and environmental regulations.

The Manufacturing Industry Working Group (MIWG), coordinated by SICCI, brought together senior government officials and business representatives to discuss the key challenges facing the manufacturing sector in Solomon Islands.

Discussions centred on reducing regulatory burden while maintaining standards, improving the taxation framework for manufacturers, and addressing skills gaps that limit sector growth.

“Manufacturing has significant potential to drive economic diversification and job creation in Solomon Islands,” said Ben Bilua, CEO of SICCI. “This roundtable is part of our ongoing work to ensure the voice of manufacturers is heard at the highest levels of government.”

SICCI will continue to work with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, Labour and Immigration (MCILI) and other stakeholders to progress the action items identified at the roundtable.
